Chambers County Day at the Capitol is a chance for residents of Chambers County to meet in Austin to help legislators learn more about our county. It has also proven to be an excellent opportunity for citizens from across Chambers County to unite and work together.
The event includes special recognition on both the floors of the Texas House and the Senate, various tours of Capitol attractions and a reception at Saengurrunde Hall and Scholz Garten.
As in the past, Chambers County residents who are planning on attending Chambers County Day are asked to call the Chambers County Day Steering Committee, so that a name tag recognizing them as member of the delegation can be made. You can do this by calling Chambers County Economic Development Office at 409-267-8225, or the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce, 281-576-5440. For those wanting overnight accommodations, a limited number of rooms have been blocked at the La Quinta Austin Capital, 512-476-1166.
A major part of Chambers County Day is the "goodie bags" that are delivered not only to each State Representative and Senator’s office, but also all statewide elected official’s offices as well as a host of other state agencies in the Austin area. These bags are comprised of what best represents the Chambers County area. Each of the three Chambers County Chambers of Commerce are sending out this letter inviting you to donate items to this bag. Your item will not only help to represent Chambers County, but will also put your name in front of all the state legislators, as well as the other offices and agencies mentioned above.
We will put together 350 bags for delivery. Any gift item, souvenir or publication that you would like to have placed in these bags must delivered to the Chamber office by Friday, January 30 - the items will be taken to Anahuac that day. We hope you will become a part of our Austin-bound team in whatever way you can and we thank you for your consideration. Should need further information, please call the Chamber office at 281-576-5440.
